The Academy of Floral Art is a long established school for hobbyists and Commercial florists, being the first school established in Sydney apart from T.A.F.E.

Now based in the heart of Crows Nest on the lower North Shore which is easily accesible by train, bus or car.

Also classes are held at Dural with ample parking available and the Hills Bus at your service from the City and suburbs along the way.

Our Wiseman’s Ferry location at the Council Community Centre in Singleton Rd, will suit anyone living around the Hawkesbury River areas, Central Coast, Galston, Dural, Glenorie and Maroota.

The Academy has placed many successful Florists all around Sydney and New South Wales, also Overseas, in U.S.A., Canada and Asian countries.  Many students have purchased shops or established their own businesses. A large number have Wedding Specialist businesses and have large Corporate businesses.

At the end of each year a Celebration Dinner is held for the Awards and Certificate Presentation Night. Certificates are given after 1 full year of Classes have been completed, assessments are carried out each term throughout the year. Workshops and Intense Courses are also offered at other times of the year.

The Academy of Floral Art offers its students 100% hands on flower arranging without all the paperwork and time spent on exams.  The Academy works to assist their students in gaining confidence through the large number of floral designs completed throughout the year of practical study and after proving their competence within their floristry expertise, following and understanding the concepts of design; gaining a thorough knowledge of all the variety of flowers; hands-on shop experience is given to students and full shop procedures and training in selling, serving customers and answering the phone, including taking flower orders, learning and understanding the computer operations within floristry; thus enabling students to find employment and work within the industry or, to establish their own business. After achieving the Advanced Certificate and reaching this high, professional level, they may also choose another area of Floristry that they may be interested in. There are many specialist areas in Floristry; namely Corporate, Special Events, Window Design, Wedding Specialist,  Marketing, wholesale and retail; import and export of flowers and wholesale and retail florist sundries; including containers and vases. Like all businesses there is competition amongst Florist Shops and the Academy will equip you with all that is needed to become a competitive Florist and to succeed in the industry.

The Academy of Floral Art teaches on a one to one basis and keeps the classes small to ensure all pupils are given such close teaching that they are not sitting around during class time and are fully active in arranging flowers for the entire duration of each class with the teacher close by to assist at all times.  A bright happy atmosphere in the classroom gives our pupils the best learning experience by being right there amongst the flowers.  The colour, fragrance, variety of flowers and containers all there to help you learn more easily and quickly.
